Royal Edelweiss Skincare was jointly established by three family generation passionate about cutting-edge, natural skincare, working in various dermatology and cosmetology fields in New York City. The trio envisioned a skincare line inspired by nature, which features the Edelweiss plant extract, a highly curative and increasingly studied ingredient. The Edelweiss flower is found in the picturesque mountains of Europe. This miraculous flower has been the subject of fairy tales, cultural pride, regional customs, national anthems, music and art for centuries.

Edelweiss flower is found at high altitudes from 1700 to 2700 meters, on cliff sides and other dangerous areas where the weather, altitude, occasional drought, and intense UV rays have earned it Latin name “Leontopodium Alpinum”, translated as “Lion foot of the Alps”. A major component of Edelweiss flower, Leotopodic acid, is a highly potent antioxidant that is not found anywhere else in nature. As Edelweiss blooms evolved to survive the harsh climate where they grows, it developed compounds to protect itself—these same compounds help protect our skin too.
Edelweiss benefits the skin in 3 major needs:

Chlorogenic acid, which is also present in coffee, is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from changes that can lead to tumors. A 2013 study, for example, found that it helped activate immune cells that kill cancer cells and suppress the growth of tumors. A 2011 study also found that chlorogenic acid protected skin against UV induced damage, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
Luteoli, a second powerful compound in edelweiss, is a flavonoid that delays the development of cancer cells and inhibits tumor growth. When compared to other flavonoids in studies, it rises to the top as one of the most effective ones. Researchers have also noted that it easily penetrates human skin, “making it also a candidate for the prevention and treatment of skin cancer.” In a 2011 study, scientists found that pure luteolin absorbed UV rays, and noted it “showed promise” as an alternative to synthetic molecules and nanoparticles used in sunscreen products. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory that helps reduce skin damage.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, there are two types of skin aging:
1. Aging caused by the genes we inherit, called “intrinsic” or internal aging.
2. Aging caused by environmental factors, such as exposure to the sun’s rays (“extrinsic”).
Edelweiss is truly one of the strongest protective ingredients you can have in your quest for smoother, more radiant skin.

The powerful antioxidant removes potentially damaging oxidizing agents in a living organism thus preventing the skin’s aging and reversing the damage caused by UV radiation. Along with protection, repair and reversing skin damage, Edelweiss extract also prevents the skin from irritations and infections. In the leaves and stems of the edelweiss plant we find an abundant amount of Leontopodic acids A and B. Complicated name, but you can think of them as super powerful antioxidants that protect you from the factors of aging every day. Leontopodic acid A is 3 times more efficient than Vitamin C. We have several studies proving—these antioxidants protect cells against exposure to pollution, sunrays, and more.
• 2005 study confirmed Leontopodic acid supports antioxidant activity and also helps protect DNA from harmful changes.
• 2009 Researchers found that Leontopodic acid protected cells against fungal toxins while helping to encourage detoxification of those toxins.
• 2012 Research found Leontopodic acid reduced inflammation in skin cells and protected from UV driven damage.
Researchers concluded it could be useful for chronic inflammatory skin diseases like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis. Other studies have found that Leontopodic acid actually stimulate key proteins in the skin that not only protect it, but help regenerate it, bringing back a more youthful look.
